Here's what I bought and listened to in March.
Arovane - LiliesThis album is one of the strong electronica release in 2004. The whole concept resolve around a trip to Tokyo, some tracks like
Windy Wish Trees and
Tokyo Ghost Stories we're compose while Uwe Zahn (a.k.a. Arovane) visited a Shinto Temple in Tokyo. Very moody, melodic, and nice music if you dig electronica from Germany you don't want to pass by this pure gem.
Hood - Outside CloserHood's latest release, and it's been anticipated. There last album
Cold house released in 2001, has been criticly acclaim. This release is in comparaison a bit more pop (at least for the single
The Lost You), really well produced, but we're in familiar ground here, no surprises.
Any Hopeful Thoughts Arrive, a 7 minutes almost epic track, is my fav. If you liked
Cold House, you definitly want to ear this.
Mogwai - Government Commissions: BBC Sessions 1996-2003This album collects some of the best Mogwai's live performances on John Peel. Almost like a live album, it sounds great and powerful. If you dont' know them it's a great introduction to there past releases and for the fans (like myself) you have to pick this up.
Iron & Wine - Woman King EPA follow up to the 2004
Our Endless Numbered Days release. The sound of Iron&Wine have never been more diversified, really nice arrangements, less minimalist folk approach. Sam Bean's voice is one of the nicest in the folk genra and feels more assured. A must have if you liked the precedent release.
More to come soon.
